The Commonwealth Secretary General’s Special Envoy to Guyana, Sir Paul Reeves, paid a courtesy call on the Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform and of the Parliamentary Opposition, Mr. Robert H.O. Corbin, M.P., on Wednesday November 10, 2004, at his Congress Place Office, Sophia.

Sir Paul Reeves’ visit to the Caribbean was in keeping with his mandate as Special Envoy of the Commonwealth Secretariat General to advise on possible initiatives by the Commonwealth to enhance democratic governance in the Caribbean.

During his visit with the PNCR the Special Envoy took the opportunity to update himself on the current state of affairs in Guyana.

Accompanying Sir Paul were, Secretariat staff members Ms. Juliet Solmon, Special Adviser Caribbean / Pacific and Mr. Lach Fergussen, Political Officer. Mr. Corbin’s delegation included Chairman of the Party, Mr. Winston Murray, M.P., Director of Economic Services and Advisor to the Leader on National Development issues, Mr. Stanley Ming, M.P., Chairperson of the Parliamentary Sub-Committee on Foreign Affairs and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Ms. Clarissa Riehl, M.P., Director of Policy Development, Mr. Deryck Bernard, M.P., Director of Mobilisation and Advisor on Electoral Matters, Mr. Vincent Alexander, M. P., and General Secretary of the Party, Mr. Oscar Clarke.
