Press Release PNCR Leader celebrates with All Saints Presbyterian Church on its 185th Anniversary People’s National Congress Reform Congress Place, Sophia Georgetown April 11, 2005

The Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform and Leader of the Opposition, Mr. Robert H O Corbin MP joined with hundreds in New Amsterdam, Berbice, on Sunday April 10, 2005 as All Saints Presbyterian Church celebrated its 185th Anniversary under the theme “Sustained by His Grace and Power”. The Party Leader was accompanied by Vice Chairman of the Party and Attorney-at-law Mr. Basil Williams MP and Ms. Amna Ally MP. Also in attendance were Party Regional Chairman, Mr. Nasir Ally MP, Regional Councillor, Mr. Harold Debidin, His Worship the Mayor of New Amsterdam, Mr. Claude Henry and Deputy Mayor, Ms. Hyacinth James.

In his brief remarks to the congregation, Mr. Corbin, himself a member of the Presbyterian body recounted his first visit to All Saints several years ago while he was a member of the Presbyterian Youth Movement participating in the Annual Youth Camp held that year in New Amsterdam. In congratulating the Moderator, members of the vestry and the congregation of All Saints on their 185th anniversary, Mr. Corbin highlighted the significant role which the church can play in moulding Guyana’s youth. He encouraged them to continue their work in the community as he was confident that it would contribute to the development of the society.

Members of the Presbyterian Church from the various parishes in Berbice and Demerara brought greetings from their congregation as they joined with All Saints in their 185th anniversary. Rev. Ewart Clifford Richards, a former Minister of All Saints Parish Church and now resident Pastor of Sandford Heights Presbyterian Church in Irvington, New Jersey, USA was the Guest Preacher for the occasion.
