The inmates of Chase’s Indigent Home situated at 89 Robb Street, Lacytown, Georgetown were remembered when the National Congress of Women (NCW) visited with them for Mother’s Day 2005. The NCW team, led by its National Chairperson, Ms, Cheryl Sampson, Assistant National Secretary, Ms. Genevieve Allen MP, Treasurer, Ms Linda Gomes-Haley and Committee Member, Ms. Germaine Van Sluytman presented hampers to the Matron of the Home, Ms. Beryl Austin as well as the inmates on Monday May 9th.

Introducing the team and speaking on behalf of the NCW, Ms. Genevieve Allen MP reminded the inmates of the significance of Mother’s Day. She said that it was in this context that the NCW thought of reaching out to the inmates of the Home through the offering of hampers which were consistent with their needs. A large hamper of cleansing agents was presented to the Home while each inmate received a basket of fruits.

This visit to Chase’s home is also part of the NCW’s outreach programme to render assistance to the elderly both in terms of providing for their physical needs and their spiritual upliftment.
