The National Congress of Women (NCW), the women’s arm of the People’s National Congress Reform was formed as the PNC Women’s Auxiliary (PNCWA) on October 5, 1957. On Wednesday October 5, 2005 the organisation will celebrate its 48th Anniversary, as a national women’s organisation, which has made a significant contribution to the development of women in Guyana.

Among the many activities to mark the occasion the NCW will visit and make a presentation to the female patients of the Observation Ward at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday October 5, 2005, while on Sunday October 9, 2005 the NCW will join the congregation of the New Life Ministries, Almond Street, Queenstown for its Anniversary Service at 10:00 a.m.

During this period also the organisation will observe the 2nd Death Anniversary of Ms. Viola Burnham, a former Chairperson of its predecessor, the Women’s Revolutionary Socialist Movement (WRSM), with a Concert – Tribute to Women, on Sunday October 23, 2005 at 5:00 p.m. at City Hall, Georgetown.

The National Congress of Women will also be working in collaboration with the Human Services Department of the People's National Congress Reform as our Party salutes Senior Citizens during the month of October, 2005.
