PRESS RELEASE People's National Congress Reform Congress Place, Sophia, Georgetown, Guyana. Monday, June 26, 2006

On Friday, June 23, 2006 as part of his countrywide outreach programme the Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform, Mr. Robert Corbin led a large delegation of party officials to Garden of Eden on the East Bank of Demerara.

Mr. Corbin informed the residents that the Party is on a fact finding mission to garner information on the problems and difficulties facing residence in the various communities in an effort to develop a comprehensive and informed development strategy so that the next PNCR-led Government can quickly and effectively develop their communities.

During the outreach exercise the Leader took the opportunity to listen and to interact with the residence who took the opportunity to share their views and concerns and pledged support for the Party.

Some of the concerns raised by the residence were the lack of potable water for the last three years, poor drainage, loss of crops and livestock as a result of flooding, the lack of development of the community play ground, the loss of livelihood, since the community is a farming community, and the continuous absence of the Koker attendant in the area.

Mr. Corbin was accompanied by Mr. Basil Williams, Vice-Chairman of the Party, Mr. Kadim Khan, Central Executive Committee member, Mr. Dave Danny and Ms Genevieve Allen, Former Members of Parliament, Dr. Ivor Mitchell, Mr. Peter Livingstone and Melanie Cornette, GYSM Executive members and other Party officials.
