On Sunday, 2 July, 2006, the Leader of the PNCR, Mr. Robert Corbin, in his capacity as Leader of the Opposition, visited St Kitts, where the 27th Regular Meeting of the Conference of CARICOM Heads of Government is being held, to submit, on behalf of the Opposition Parties, a letter briefing CARICOM Heads on the dire political and constitutional crisis, looming in Guyana.

While in St Kitts, Mr. Corbin:
 Submitted the Opposition letter to the outgoing Chairman of CARICOM, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Mr. Patrick Manning (see copy of letter attached);
 Met with the CARICOM Secretary General, Dr Edwin Carrington, who undertook to circulate the letter to the CARICOM Heads attending the Conference;
 Met with Ministers from CARICOM member states; and
 Met with the Commonwealth Secretary General, Mr. Don Mc Kinnon, who was fully briefed on the electoral and other developments in Guyana and asked to brief the Heads of Government of other Commonwealth countries (see copy of letter attached).

Mr. Corbin is now in the United Kingdom where he will also meet with Lord Triesman of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

The submissions and briefings, in St. Kitts and London, are aimed at alerting Regional and Commonwealth leaders to the grave electoral and constitutional crisis into which Guyana has been plunged by the perverse refusal of the Government and their Commissioners to take the necessary steps to create the conditions for a free and fair Election based, in the first instance, on a Clean Voters List that meet internationally accepted standards.
