Ambassador Shen Qing Pays Farewell Call on PNCR Leader

The Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China , Mr. Shen Qing, paid a farewell call on the Leader of the PNCR, Mr. Robert Corbin, on Friday, October 20, 2006. The Ambassador was accompanied by his interpreter, Mr. Zhao.

Also present at this meeting were Mr. Winston Murray, CCH, Chairman of the Party, Ms. Clarissa Riehl, Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and Mr. Ronald Austin, former Ambassador to China and Head of the Party’s Overseas Desk.

Ambassador Shen Qing informed Mr. Corbin that he had completed his tour of duty and would be returning to China. He said that during his tenure relations between the two parties had improved and strengthened and this was a source of satisfaction to him. Ambassador Shen Qing revealed that his diplomatic experience had been enriched by his stay in Guyana . He also indicated that his posting in Guyana represented the formal end of his diplomatic career.

Mr. Corbin in turn wished the Ambassador a successful period of retirement and stated that he appreciated his efforts towards improving and strengthening relations between the two parties and peoples. As a token of appreciation of the Ambassador’s work towards this end, Mr. Corbin presented Mr. Shen Qing with a copy of the book by the former Caribbean Diplomat, Ronald Saunders, entitled “Crumbled Small: The Caribbean in World Politics” and a golden tie-pin.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of pleasantries and mutual best wishes for the continued good relationships between the PNCR and the Communist Party of China (CPC).
