On Wednesday evening, December 20, 2006, the People's National Congress Reform held its 2nd Annual “Evening of Christmas Music” in the Hall of Heroes, Congress Place, Sophia.

The programme featured many artistes of national acclaim including Terrence Fox - Baritone; Gem Rohlehr - Soprano; Korokwa Folk Singers led by Deryck Bernard; Paul Cort – Baritone; the West Ruimveldt Boys Choir and the Parkside Steel Orchestra.

The audience which comprised Members of the Diplomatic Corps resident in Guyana, Members of the Central Executive Committee and Members of Parliament of the PNCR as well as other special invitees were treated to Christmas selections such as “The Birthday of a King” (Neidlinger), “Mary had a Baby” and “Star of Bethlehem”, “Ava Maria” (Schubert), “Gesu Bambino” (Pietro Yon) and “The Little Horses” (Aaron Copeland), “O Holy Night” (Adam) and Folk Medley including “Come Home for Christmas” by Deryck Bernard.

In addition, there were selections by the Parkside Steel Orchestra and a spectacular dance routine to Tango music by Dr. George Norton, MP and his dancing partner, Akima McPherson.

Giving words of appreciation, the Leader of the PNCR, Mr. Robert Corbin, MP acknowledged with thanks the sterling contributions of Mrs. Clarissa Riehl, MP and member of the Party’s Central Executive Committee, towards the success of this annual event. He extended special Christmas Greetings to Members of the Diplomatic Corps and their families while urging them to savour the many special Guyanese Christmas delights. Mr. Corbin was full of praise for the artistes and remarked on the PNCR’s belief and emphasis on culture and cultural development as an integral part of its development programme for Guyana. In closing he wished everyone a Peaceful and Merry Christmas and a successful New Year full of good Health and Happiness.

The curtains came down on the evening’s activity with the entire audience participating in the singing of “Joy to the World” after which there was a Cocktail Reception.
