The Leader of the People's National Congress Reform, Mr. Robert H. O. Corbin, M.P. visited the mother of the two children who unfortunately died by drowning in a canal in front of her Mocha, East Bank home on Sunday, May 13, 2007. Sue-Ann Meertens lost her two children, Angelique and Annique ironically on Mothers Day. The Party Leader was accompanied by Party Activist and Councilor in the Region, Mr. Lloyd Roberts.

The children lost their lives in trying to obtain a bath from the nearby canal as no water was available in the shack which Ms. Meertens inhabited. The death of these children is a reflection of the callous policies of the socio-economic conditions which is so typical in so many areas of this country and which reflect the ability of the PPP/C Administration to provide the basic elements for a decent existence.

The PNCR Leader sought to offer words of comfort to Ms. Meertens and pledged the support of the Party to do whatever it can to help her and her family. The Party Leader also took the opportunity to offer condolences of the Party and its Executives to her on the death of her children.
