PRESS RELEASE PNCR LEADER VISITS LAING AVENUE FIRE VICTIMS 12 October 2007



Accompanied by Vice Chairman, Basil Williams, MP and members of the Human Services Department of the People’s National Congress Reform, PNCR Leader, Mr. Robert Corbin visited families at Laing Avenue, whose houses were destroyed by fire on the 10th October, 2007. Mr. Corbin toured the area and inspected the charred remains of the building. He advised the residents to make a list of the items lost or damaged and submit it to the Party so that an assessment can be made to determine how it could be of assistance to the affected families.

Also accompanying, the Leader of the Party were Mr. Esan Abrahams, Assistant to the Leader and Troy Garraway and Ms. Ann Greene, members of the Human Services Department.

In the meantime, members of the Human Services Department of the PNCR took representatives of each family to the Avinash store in the city in order to purchase school uniforms for the children. On the 12th October, the children of the affected families or representatives were invited to be present at Congress Place where they received school supplies from the PNCR.

On the 10th October, 2007 at least twenty five people were made homeless and suffered incalculable losses after a fire ravished a range building with twelve apartments in it.
