PRESS RELEASE By People’s National Congress Reform Congress Place, Sophia Tuesday, July 08, 2008 THE DEATH OF LLOYD JOSEPH ATTORNEY- AT- LAW

The People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) received yesterday, July 7, 2008, the sad news of the passing of Mr. Lloyd Joseph, Attorney- at- Law, in the United States of America, where he was receiving medical treatment.

The Party Leader, Mr. Robert H.O. Corbin and other members of the Central Executive Committee offer sincere and heartfelt sympathy to his wife, children and other relatives.

The Party recalls that Mr. Lloyd Joseph gave outstanding service and made important contributions to Guyana not only in the legal field but also as the second General Manager of the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) when it was established by the PNC Government in 1969. At the time of his death he was also a serving member of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) where at he represented the views of the Parliamentary Opposition. As an Attorney-at-Law he also lent his considerable skills to the Trade Union fraternity in an advisory capacity.

The PNCR wishes to record its gratitude for the services rendered by the late Lloyd Joseph both at the state and Party levels. The Party benefited from his counsel, advice and guidance on a range of issues and his passing will certainly create a gap in the institutional memory of the organisation.
