Party Leader in collaboration with Party officials in Linden hosted Senior Citizens Christmas Luncheon

On Sunday, December 14, 2008, the Leader of the People's National Congress Reform, Mr. Robert Corbin, MP and Mrs. Carol Corbin hosted a Christmas luncheon for over 200 Senior Citizens at the Christiansburg Primary School in Region 10. This is an annual event which is held in Linden by the Party Leader in memory of his parents.

The Regional Chairman, Mr. Mortimer Mingo and the Regional Vice-Chairman, Mr. Samuel Hooper welcomed the seniors and extended Christmas greetings on behalf of the people of Region 10 to Mr. Corbin and his family. The Party Leader and his wife were joined by other members of the Party in serving the senior citizens, after which everyone was entertained by members of the Guyana Youth and Student Movement with songs and dances. The seniors were also presented with gifts which were distributed by the Party Leader and other members of the Central and Regional Committee of the Party.

In his address to the gathering, Mr. Corbin said that Christmas is the time of the year when we reflect upon the birth of the Christ-child who brought hope for mankind. He paid tribute to the resilience of the many old stalwarts who continue to have faith in the future with the PNCR. Mr. Corbin expressed the hope that notwithstanding the difficulties of the present period they will find comfort in the fact that others remember them at this Christmas time and that they will find peace and happiness with family and friends.

He concluded by extending the seasons greetings to all the citizens of Region 10 wishing them an enjoyable holiday season and a better 2009.
