PNCR CELEBRATES PRESIDENT OBAMA INAUGURATION -- Monday, January 19, 2009

The People’s National Congress Reform will be holding a celebratory activity on Tuesday January 20, 2009 from 6:00 pm at Congress Place, Sophia, to commemorate the election and inauguration of President -elect, Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States of America.

The election of Mr. Obama to the Presidency is a significant historical event that symbolizes triumph of the ideals of American society and democratic values and is a realization of the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King’s and many others who waged a relentless struggle for human rights in the USA. Mr. Obama’s election also makes a reality of Dr. King’s pronouncement in 1963 that Americans must be judged by the content of their character and not the colour of their skin. As such Barack Obama’s election has lessons which resonate beyond the boundaries of the United States, particularly, Guyana. It is, indeed a time to celebrate his election as the first African American President, the 44th President of the USA.

Party members and members of the general public are invited to attend the event which will include the replay of the open-air concert and the official inauguration ceremony of President Barack Obama on large outdoor screens. Refreshments will also be available.

ALL ARE INVITED
