THE PNCR EXTENDS CONGRATULATIONS TO THE NEW PRESIDENT ELECT OF BRAZIL--PRESS RELEASE Thursday 4 November 2010




The People’s National Congress Reform extends our congratulations to Brazil’s first female President Elect, 62 year old Ms Dilma Roussef, who won the Presidential run-off election, on Sunday 31 October 2010.

Ms. Dilma Roussef, the candidate of the Workers’ Party, succeeds President of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, who steps down, on 1 January 2011, as President of South America’s most powerful nation, after completing the Constitutional limit of two consecutive terms.

Brazil’s new President Elect has pledged to make gender equality and the lifting of the estimated 20Mn Brazilians out of poverty her priorities, as well as promised to protect the freedom of expression and worship of Brazilians and to honour the Constitution of Brazil.

The PNCR wishes the new President Elect, of our friendly and powerful Southern neighbour, good health and the successful achievement of her priorities.
