On Monday, April 26, 2004, last the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Mr. Ulrich Nitzschke paid a farewell courtesy call on the Party’s Leader and Leader of the Parliamentary Opposition, Mr. Robert H O Corbin at the Party’s Headquarters, Congress Place, Sophia.


His Excellency Mr. Nitzschke, whose tour of duty has come to an end, exchanged ideas on the future relations between the Federal Republic of Germany and Guyana. The Ambassador who is based in Trinidad and Tobago shared with the PNCR Leader the highlights of his last diplomatic experience in the Caribbean as he prepared for retirement.

Later on the same day, His Excellency Mr. Henk Soeters, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Guyana, based in Paramaribo, Suriname also paid a courtesy call on Mr. Corbin at Congress Place, Sophia. During the visit, discussions centred around Guyana/Netherlands relations, the general political and economic situation in Guyana and the recent tensions arising from the border controversy between Guyana and Suriname.

His Excellency, Mr. Soeters was on one of his routine visits to Guyana to consolidate the excellent working relations between the Kingdom of Netherlands and the Co-operative Republic of Guyana.
